I had a thought; how would Sammy Hagar work out for a Zeppelin reunion? I thought that he was great with Van Halen. I also think that he could tackle The Plant vocals; he sounds like he was actually influenced by Plant.

Hi understone,

Yes, that we be great if the three of them, plus Jason, got back into the studio, created new music, then toured.
However, it seems as though Robert is not interested in any of it, sadly.

I really hope that this will change.

I am all for them writing new music. New music won't affect the past. If it's not good, their old stuff will still be good. If they like jamming still, then I'd like to hear what they come up with.

LdyBelle,
I'm not sure if this is totally Robert's reasons, however, it will add some incite.

Cool!
Yeah, I saw Robert twice in the early to mid 80s, I saw Page twice, in the mid to late 80s, and one time, he had Jason on drums. Therefore, the only (surviving) member that I have not seen is John Paul Jones.

I have never seen any of them perform Zeppelin, so that is sort of a drag, although they have all done some very good, post Zeppelin work. I actually really like some of Robert's early solo work.

I guess the bottom line is that we'd like to have Robert come on tour; as the three surviving, original members, that is so much of the excitement. However, if Robert's heart is not into it, then I would not want him to come anyhow. It certainly doesn't make Robert look very favorable to the huge Zep fans, like us.

Either way, it will be very enjoyable, but without Plant there, it will not be truly a Zeppelin reunion.

Well, after another day of digesting this possibilty, I don't think it will stop me from seeing them - I've seen Robert on his own, performing Zep songs his own way, and that was cool! After that, all I wanted to see was Jimmy and then I'd die happy :) - LOL! So, if it's without Robert, then so beit... I won't let that stop me and as you said, I hope it won't stop them... :)

I see your point, on all three points :)

When you stop and think about it, who could be more fitting then John Bonham's own son? Also, for two reasons, one is the obvious, that he is John's son, and the other is that Jason is simply an excellent drummer. The apple did not fall far from the tree there.

I agree totally about Plant, for the obvious reasons, he is Robert Plant :) Voice, lyrics etc. I just don't think that he feels that emotionally charged by the thoughts of continuing the legacy any further. It may not be a bad idea to get a younger, more energetic singer, for this project.

With Queen, there was no choice; since Freddie is gone, they had to pick someone if they were to tour again. At first, I thought Paul Rodgers was an odd choice for Queen, although I love Bad Company. However, after I saw them, I thought Paul did very good. To be honest, I was more into The Bad Company songs then The Queen songs.

Yes, when the groups were that big, they were that big for very valid reasons, the talent. Imagine had The Beatles tried to come back together, after John was gone. How do you replace a talent such as John Lennon? Although in the mid nineties, it was amazing what The Beatles did with two John Lennon, original songs, in the studio.

I guess that was my long answer to wondering if they should do it without Robert, or may be do it under a different name? Plant and Page came out and did a project without Johns, in the past.

On the other hand, Robert should not, and hopefully will not stop them.

Ahh...like you, it is mixed thoughts. :)

Well, I see Jason as John - I guess being his son and all it makes it OK for me, in my mind at least.. But without Robert? My mind just can't grasp at it.. I guess if and when they find someone, I'll see how I feel then..

Oh, I don't know... I didn't like it when Paul Rodgers stood up for Freddie Mercury in Queen this year.. Just felt odd to me.

Guess I prefer the originals.. ;)
