There was a time when I’d say how much I love (you). There was a time when you opened your heart and you’d say I love you (too). Now you’re gone, what went wrong, why didn’t you see, we were so meant to be? I know if we tried, we could have made it right. How did it end this way, and what could we have changed? There was a time when I’d give the world to (you). There was a time when I knew you would for me (too). And you moved home, we’re all alone. Is that the way it should be, and do you think of me? I know I think of you, what else can we do, to make it right again? You were my closest friend. There was a time when I’d trust in you so (much). There was a time when you’d trust in me (too). Nothing is the same, since you went away. Do you reach for that phone, when you’re feeling all alone? And on the coldest nights, will you wish I was there? To feel your warmth again, must it be the end? There was a time when I’d think and speak the world of (you). There was a time when I hoped you’d say I do. Copyright © 2005 Mark Ross
