Well, this Omnibus Bill (or should we call it The Ominous Bill), for the funding of our federal government, passed through The Senate today, with a vote of 62-35, and is expected to be signed on Wednesday, by the president. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/10/senate-ready-clear-huge-spending-obama/ Many Americans, including myself, are deeply disappointed and concerned about this complete, fiscally irresponsible spending that we are seeing since the new administration took office. We are in a very serious economic situation, and every day we hear, the federal government spent another billion on this, then another billion on that. Unemployment just reached a 25 year high of approximately 8%, and this bill increased federal government spending by approximately 8%. So, while Americans are increasingly loosing their jobs, and cutting back on just about every thing that we can, our government is increasing their budget by 8%? Two top Democrats, Senator Bayh of Indiana, and Senator Feingold of Wisconsin, both voted against this bill because of the cost, and this spending is simply way out of control, and seemingly, unsustainable. You can watch more on this here… (interview with Senator Bayh) http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playerId=videolandingpage&streamingFormat=FLASH&referralObject=3792704&referralPlaylistId=playlist – Barack Obama explicitly said, on his campaign, I will cut out those earmarks…Verbatim– “And, absolutely, we need earmark reform. And when I’m president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely”. Now, this most recent bill has over 8,000 earmarks, with an approximate cost of 14 billion dollars, 4 billion of which is money for earmarks. So I ask, how are we suppose to have an economic recovery when the federal government is spending money like there is no tomorrow? Is this change we can believe in? Mark

Then I heard a speech today from Harry Reid, in which he was saying, how the deficit was caused by The George W. Administration etc. etc.
While I am not disagreeing with him, this is not what The American people need to hear today; once and for all, I think that we need to have politicians that not only talk about change, and give feel good speeches, but actually act upon it.
Again, these are serious times, and Americans deserve a lot better from their government; not more bi-partisanship garbage.
For heaven’s sake, they sound like school yard children, at times.
We need real, viable solutions now!

Well, today, the president signed The Omnibus Bill and conceded that it is an imperfect bill, and that transparency must be imposed going forward.
OK, if this was such an imperfect bill, then why didn't he not veto it? Instead Congress is likely getting a message from the president that this is acceptable, even though public opinion is saying otherwise.
Also, he has promised transparency during the campaign, prior to inauguration day, and after each one of these fiscally irresponsible bills are signed; thus far, we have not seen it.
After he became president, he said that The American people would have five days to review each bill on line, prior to it getting signed; well, we are still yet to see that happen; in fact, a lot of Congress is not getting to review the entire bills, prior to signing, let alone The American people getting to review them.
Now they are talking about a second stimulus package, as well.

Despite the president's personal popularity, he is quickly loosing the confidence from several economists.

I have said this many times…I like the president, I think he is a very intelligent guy, however, I do not (thus far) have much confidence in his decisions, and I am also very disappointed in his administration's lack of transparency, and these huge, "unprecedented" amounts of money being spent, in a time when we "desperately" need more responsible lawmakers and leadership.
