Once again I would like to congratulate our federal government for exercising extraordinarily great judgement…

Today, two F-16s, escorting President Obama’s Air Force (Boeing 747) One Jet, flew directly over New York City for a “photo-opp”, very close to the site of where The World Trade Center Buildings once stood.

Apparently, The Federal Aviation Administration approved of the flight, however, it seems that Mayor Bloomberg and the people of New York City, were not notified; subsequently leading to a bit of a panic.

Mayor Bloomberg, understandably, was ”very” upset.

This really seems to defy any logical, or rational thinking.

And here is Mayor Bloomberg…

I would like to re-iterate that I do like Barack Obama, even though I disagree with him, politically, on many fronts. However, during his campaign, I heard him mention the conservative talk show host Sean Hannity, by name, on several occasions. So, what is wrong with that? After all, as Americans, we all (including the president) have The First Amendment Right to freedom of speech.

From my point of view, this is what is wrong with it…

When someone enters into the world of politics, right or wrong, they better be prepared to be taken to task; if you are running for the presidency of one of the largest countries in the world, you better be prepared to get hammered (at times) throughout the entire world.

Look at Sarah Palin, she was running for vice president and it was simply outrageous how the media treated her. However, while running for office, I can not recall her complaining about it once; though privately, I have no doubt that it was upsetting for her to hear some of those things; and look at President Bush, he was hammered incessantly.

In my opinion, and in the opinion of many others, the president needs to exhibit strength, and stay focused on policies, and running the country; not worrying about what talk show hosts (opinions and commentaries) are saying about him.

As president, when you start saying, this person, or that media host said this and that about me, it sends a signal that you either can not take it, or you are afraid that they may have too much influence.

Well, I am afraid to say, that when Barack Obama called out Rush Limbaugh, and told Republican leaders that, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done”, he really barked up the wrong tree. Like him or not, Rush Limbaugh has a daily listening audience of approximately 20 million listeners. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/23/obama-quit-listening-rush-limbaugh-want-things/ When you develop a listening audience of that size, you do become highly influential; and twenty million people could certainly tilt elections one way or the other.

Like many other things, perhaps the president’s comment was taken way out of context, but if you put it into perspective, isn’t it the same as Rush telling millions of conservatives to not listen to those Democrats if you want the country to succeed?

I do believe that the mainstream media really played softball with Barack Obama, but now that he is president, in my opinion, he better get use to being criticized; and learn how to let it roll off of him.

If anyone heard Rush Limbaugh speak at the The annual CPAC conservative convention, he really laid into the president, and the policies that are coming out of Congress lately. So, if I were the president, or one of his advisers, (which I am not), I would advise him to look forward, stay focused, not to engage in this petty, back and fourth non-sense with commentators, and to not come off as so thin-skinned; millions (for better or worse) are looking to him as a source of strength and hope.

With every thing else going on, perhaps this story was a bit overshadowed; nonetheless, very, very sad indeed..

On February 12th, around 10 p.m., Continental Flight 3407, headed for Buffalo, N.Y., from Newark, NJ., came to crass landing, dead smack into a residential area, killing all 49 on board, and one person on the ground.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,493325,00.html

Evidently, ice was the colprate, and it is said that the plane fell to a nose dive of 1000 feet, within five seconds; completely unimaginable!

This is very sad, and sobering, especially after the miracle landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on The Hudson River, a few weeks ago.

I would like to send my condoloscences to all of the family members, and people affected by this sad event.

OK,
For anyone who hasn’t yet heard this, please hold onto your seat…

More exact numbers are suppose to come out later today, however, Elizabeth Warren, who is chairing the Congressional Oversight Panel for The (TARP) Troubled Asset Relief Program Fund, says that The Treasury may have overpaid by 78 billion dollars of the 254 billion that was given to financial institutions.
The troubled assets purchased, have a total value of (approximately) 176 billion dollars.

Yes, if this is correct, that means that our government basically wasted 78 billion of our tax payer dollars.

And they want to use nearly 1 trillion more of our tax payer dollars?
I have a feeling that may “not” be a good idea.

Also, please take note of Senator Chris Dodd’s quote to the media, in the above CNN article.
Dodd told reporters,”the fact that they made a poor one doesn’t mean they can’t do it right”

I hate to break this to the senator, however, most people that loose large sums of money for their companies, generally do not last very long; or perhaps that is just the (double) standard for us “average” citizens.

This is really beyond comprehension.

This story is a little dated, as it goes back to December, however, for those who do not know, it is certainly a story worth telling, and following…

Fox Business filed a freedom of information act request from The Feds, and The Treasury for information on the use of The TARP Fund. However, this information was not disclosed; as a result, Fox Business sued The U.S. Treasury for this information. http://www.state.gov/m/a/ips/

Please watch this video…
http://www.foxbusiness.com/video-search/m/21698224/fbn-sues-government-over-tarp-info.htm

I for one, am very thankful for the people on the front lines that “are” looking out the citizens, and not allowing the government to pull the wool over our eyes.

It is our tax dollars, and we certainly do have a right to know “precisely” how the money is being used; In this case, I would have to believe that most citizens would agree.

Hi everyone,
Well, apparently, the circus is still on tour.

The government gives Citigroup 45 billion in tax-payer dollars, now Citigroup is purchasing a 50 million dollar corporate jet; from The French.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/01262009/news/nationalnews/just_plane_despicable_152033.htm

The interesting thing is that I am actually not really angry with Citigroup; I’m actually not surprised; after all, we need to consider how they got in this position, in the first place.

I wanted to mention this miraculous landing, in The Hudson River (NY) on Thursday, January 15th by this US Airways pilot, Chesley B. Sullenberger.
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local&id=6606410#bodyText
First of all, this pilot truly ”is” a hero.

Often, like a passenger in a car, we so take flights for granted when we board an airplane.
Who would ever guess, of all things, that a flock of birds could bring a commercial airplane down.

Well, under tremendous pressure, with one both engines gone; in less then three minutes, this pilot made a decisive, and brilliant landing into The Hudson River.

When you think of other possible outcomes, it really sinks in, as to how much a professional this pilot really is…

That airplane could have smashed straight into a building, in downtown Manhattan; it could have crashed onto a busy street in NYC, however, the pilot steered the plane away from pedestrian areas, and made a seemingly perfect landing into the water.

Not one person on this flight was seriously injured, or killed; that is really amazing!

The first responders were also great heroes, and extremely professional…

Had those passengers been in that river much longer, then hypothermia would have begun to sink in, and tragedy may have followed; instead, the flight attendants, boats and responders were getting those passengers off of that airplane within minutes of the crash landing.

To me, this is a miracle, and a great reminder of what happened on 9-11, and how much we have learned since then. It is also a reminder that these fire fighters and first responders are truly brave men and women, as well as true professionals, and great heroes.

It is so refreshing to hear, and write about some very positive, and uplifting news.

Today is 45 years to the day that president John F. Kennedy was so tragically assassinated. I think that a lot of people saw great hope in JFK back then; it is truly one of the saddest days, in American history; some even say that it was the end of innocence, in America.

My respects to his legacy and his family.

God Bless John…

Citigroup announced today that they are laying off 53,000 workers; that is 20% of their workforce. It looks like the tsunami is getting closer to land.

Well, it is being reported that retail sales fell by a record amount in October. I have been saying for a while that things are going to get worse before they get better. I did not see that 700 billion dollar rescue (I use that word very loosely) package as a means to solve anything, and that is proving to be the case.

Still, I think that Americans are very resilient and strong people, that love their country.

I think that we need to just tighten up a bit, settle down and remain “optimistic”. We should also keep a tight eye on the government, as well; I think that more transparency, and accountability, as it relates to our tax dollars, and some other things, is very much in order, after all of this.

With that, it is often through hard times that real, postive change emerges.
