Here is a very nice, and very rare, live Zeppelin performance of Babe I’m Gonna Leave You.

Enjoy!

I believe that this is one of only two times that they performed Babe I’m Going to Leave You live. Also, I believe this performance is from their very first tour, which was in Scandinavia (Led Zeppelin Scandinavian Tour), and lasted ten days, under the name of The New Yardbirds; which was a Yardbirds contractual agreement being fulfilled. The tour went so well, and surpassed anything that the original Yardbirds could have imagined, that the band collectively decided to drop The Yardbirds name and come up with a new name; hence the incarnation of Led Zeppelin.

  1. Hmmm,

    I just noticed something;

While this sources section is very informative, I think that someone screwed up…

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppelin_Scandin…

They have a singles section, but to the best of my knowledge, Zeppelin was totally against singles, and did not release any; at least any with their permission.

They believed that an album is a collective piece of work, and should not be pushed out as singles. If you wanted to hear Zeppelin, back then, you bought the album.

  2. Man!

    Plant's voice is hauntingly beautiful!

    WOW!

JPJ does some amazing bass lines, in this performance.

It is not hard to see from watching this performance, how Zeppelin got so famous, so quickly.

  3. Where or how do you find these rare moments of history??? WOW!!!

    Thank you :)

As for Wikipedia.. You can never trust them.. Anyone can update and say pretty much anything…

  4. Hi LdyBelle,

You're welcome! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

Yes, I'm sure that you are correct, however, the same holds true for just about anything on The Internet; For the most part, I have found Wikipedia to be a pretty reliable source of information.

The info is well written, and meticulously indexed, I really like that a lot.

If I am seriously researching something, I tend to cross check between a few sites, anyhow.

As far as the music clips, just go to YouTube and type in what you want, into the search box.

Others were kind enough to upload them, into YouTube; I am merely creating a link to it.

  5. LdyBelle,

Wow! Listen to that bass line that JPJ does when the clip hits 3:20, it is awesome!

He so beautifully adds that real grooving bass line in.

LOL, I think that bass line nearly stopped Page dead in his tracks! LOL

Man, that is an early (bass line) version of the middle section of The Lemon Song.

Isn't it such an intimate setting? So cool!
